Drug peddler held in Sopore: Police | KNO

Srinagar, Aug 12 (KNO): Continuing its drive against the menace of drugs, Police in Sopore on Tuesday said to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession. A police team at a checkpoint established at Maharajpora, Sopore arrested a drug peddler identified as Himayun Rasool Kundoo son of Ghulam Rasool Kundoo resident of Sher Colony, Sopore. During the search, a substantial quantity of poppy straw was recovered from his possession, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 157/2025 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation has been initiated. J&K Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics and urged the public to cooperate by sharing information related to drug peddling so that decisive action can be taken against those involved—(KNO)
